McKeon Introduces Resolution of Inquiry to Force Department of Defense to Share Information Related to 9/11 Co-Conspirators

Washington, D.C.—House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) today introduced a Resolution of Inquiry to force the Department of Defense to share with the United States House of Representatives any information that refers or relates to the trial or detention of the terrorists responsible for the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  The Obama Administration on November 13 announced that the “9/11 co-conspirators” would be brought to New York City and tried in civilian court instead of a war tribunal.

Washington, DC---U.S. House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) today joined with the senior Republicans of the Judiciary, Intelligence and Homeland Security Committees, and Appropriations Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee Ranking Member Frank Wolf (R-Va.), to demand answers to questions posed over the past ten months about the Administration’s ill-advised decision to close Guantanamo Bay. In a letter to President Obama, the Ranking Members outlined the national security concerns posed by the decision and insisted that the Administration provide responses to the American people before any terrorists are imported to the U.S. for detention or prosecution.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon, the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, today criticized President Obama’s decision to bring the self-confessed mastermind of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States to New York City for trial in civilian court.  McKeon also stressed that the President’s decision will undermine the validity of the newly revived military commissions process which was designed to try terrorists captured in the ongoing war on terrorism.
