McKeon Welcomes Jaime Cheshire to House Armed Services Committee Staff

Hill Veteran Will Focus on Member Services, Communications & Coalitions Outreach

October 16, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, today announced that Jaime Cheshire will join the House Armed Services Committee staff as a Senior Advisor.

"Jaime brings a wealth of Capitol Hill experience to the Armed Services Committee," said Rep. McKeon.  "Her knowledge of the legislative process and experience in guiding complex policy into law will aid our members on the committee; and ultimately, Jaime’s work will directly benefit the men and women of our military and their families."

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve in this new capacity.  Members and staff work on the Armed Services Committee because they care deeply about national security and want to provide the best available resources and support to the men and women of the military.  I look forward to building on that tradition,” said Cheshire.

“I’m excited about the experience and perspective Jaime brings to the committee and am confident she will enhance our ability to support our Members’ needs in the national defense arena,” said Bob Simmons, the Republican Staff Director of the Armed Services Committee.

Cheshire, a native of Farmington, Connecticut, has more than ten years of experience in the House of Representatives, having worked as the Legislative Director for both Rep. McKeon and former Congresswoman Nancy Johnson (R-CT).  On the Armed Services Committee, she will focus on developing a comprehensive legislative and communications strategy that supports America’s military.  Additionally, Cheshire will work to build coalitions on Capitol Hill and with industry partners, trade associations and defense-related policy organizations in order to advance the legislative priorities of Ranking Member McKeon and Armed Services Committee Republicans.
